WHAT PEOPLE SAID

I like my last page, ‘Come and join my Prospect Creek River’.
I liked that my cousin came and I told him what he could paint.
Mmm … I like painting lots of water.
I liked painting the Nile for my Nona
I enjoyed the accordion style of book.
I like doing all of Dorothy’s favourite things. Guess what page River is on? Page 7.
What I liked is you can do anything about the river in your imagination.
I liked making a book that includes my school learning about wet and dry environments
Rivers are networks, I like that.
The kids

I enjoyed being in a sharing context that encouraged self-expression and hearing from others
It was good to hear other people’s experiences and ideas around the lagoon
Loved doing heaps of artwork
Doing something creative
I appreciated the rare opportunity to be opportunity to be creative
The adults

This is a way of hearing people, a way to talk to people about a complex mix of weeds, nutrient problems and sewage flows, and people’s love of the lagoon. The way in which the facilitators asked strategic questions got people deeply involved very quickly. This method allows us to understand more of what people are seeing with these tricky issues at an important site.
Environment Manager

Our western Sydney council is prioritising sustainability and the creeks. It was great to have Annie conduct a workshop that put people from diverse cultures in touch with seeing and using the creeks, which are integral to the landscape of the LGA.
Museum & Gallery Coordinator

The workshop raised social and cultural awareness of water issues, and rich and reflective discussion with a personal and place focus.
